  • Pumpkin Carving Party
    Held at the Greystone Manor (187 South 2nd Avenue West) at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.
  • Don’t miss the call of pumpkin carving night! Come bravely, it won’t give you a fright. Bring your carving tools and lots of creativity, this will surely be a fun party. The cost for the party is $6.00 per child, this is not a trick, so get ready for a treat. Come to our pumpkin carving party we’ll provide you with a pumpkin and goodies to eat. NO charge for Adults unless they want to carve a pumpkin along with the children. Get ready for scoops of fun! We’re going to get some carving done, save the date and don’t be late! —$6 per person
  • Oktoberfest Beer Tasting & Kickoff Party
    Held at the Riverside Hot Springs Inn and Portneuf
    Grille & Lounge on 255 East Portneuf Street (Main Street between 2nd & 3rd; 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.)
  • Now that fall’s here, it’s time to drink beer! Sample 5 different types of Harvest beer & enjoy. The Portneuf Grille Chefs will be busy brewing delicious Hors d'oeuvre to serve during the beer tasting party. Live Music by Tim Eriksen —$15 per person

Saturday, OCTOBER 9

  • Oktoberfest-Themed Fun Run or Walk or
    Bike (5k/10k)
    Starts and Ends at the Lava Community
    Building (Race Start: 9 a.m. / Registration: 8:45 a.m.)
  • Slip on your lederhosen, dirndl, or Halloween costume and let’s see what character wins. All costumed entrants get a free raffle entry for $10 in lottery tickets as well as hot pool passes. Also prizes awarded for best costumes!
  • Start will be 9am at Oktoberfest Halle, outside the Lava Community Building (150 N. Center Street) for all classes. Finish line will be the same location as the start line. Times will be listed in each category. Everyone has a chance to win prizes. Get double the chance at winning in our raffle entry and you could win $20.00 in lottery tickets for the best costume.
    —$10 entry fee adult
    —$5 entry fee 17 and younger
    With each entry fee you will get an opportunity to purchase our burning crow Oktoberfest T-shirts at discounted price of $10.00, (limited to one T-shirt per entry).

  • The Oktoberfest Celebration continues at the Lava Community Center with Bavarian food, drinks, continuous music and a fire spinning show at dusk with the burning of the crow. (11 a.m. to dusk)
    —Vendor Booths open at 11:00 a.m. until 4 p.m.
  • Kids Carnival Games and Charlie the Music Man at the Lava Community Center (from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
  • Dance with Charlie the Music man. Kids of all ages will have fun with his music. Dance the hokey pokey, chicken dance, Limbo Stick and many more funky dances. He will have a couple of suite cases with percussion instruments and prizes for everyone participating.
  • A Starker Mann Bier (strong man beer) Wagon Pull starts on Main Street at 2 p.m.
  • The street will be blocked and 8 man teams will attempt the journey up Main Street pulling Rex Bakers wagons. The each team can pick two women to ride on the wagon. Think prizes, prizes and prizes. You could win a free night stay or gift card from one of our many businesses.
    —Sign up your full team or sign up as an individual and join up with other individual men. Cost per entry is $5.00.
  • Punkin Chunkin’ at the Park next to Community Building (4 p.m. til pumpkins are gone)
  • What’s more fun that catapulting a pumpkin and watching it rocket through the air until gravity takes hold if it?  Instead of watching, try it yourself.  For $5.00 per pumpkin you can try your skill at this event to see if your pumpkin can beat everyone else’s.
  • Verruckt Hamsterrad aka “Crazy Hamster Race” (5 p.m. or after the Pumpkin Chunkin’)
  • Jump in the inflatable “Hamster Sphere” and get ready to race your competition by running as fast as you can in the sphere up a grass hill to the finish line.  The best three “hamsters” win prizes.  
    —The entry fee for this once-in-a-lifetime experience is $5.00.
  • Duck Race Raffle at the Lava Community Building (6 p.m.)
  • Oktoberfest traditionally ended with a horse race for the Royal Family. In Lava Hot Springs, we have our own version—a river duck race.  Prizes include lottery tickets and prizes from local business sponsors.
    —The Duck Race Raffle tickets are 1 for $5 or 5 for $20.
  • Fire Spinning and the Burning of the Crow (at dusk)
  • At dusk is Fire Spinning by Lava Flow Fire and the Burning of the Crow. This is going to be a spectacular show put on by the Lava Flow Fire performers. The Scarecrow will go up in flames for Lava Flow Fire Grand Finale!
  • Lava Lions Bingo at the Lava Community Center (7 p.m.)
  • Stick around for Lava Lions Bingo beginning at 7 p.m!  Win a Special Game and get to spin The Wheel of Fortune. In addition to winning the Bingo Pot you have a chance to win additional money on the wheel. Progressive Blackout Bingo. Bring you entire Family out to the Lava Community Center for a fun filled evening. Everyone is welcome, but to play bingo you must be 18 years or older. BINGO workers are volunteers. ALL proceeds go to community!
